Perched on its hills, Úbeda is a true Renaissance jewel. Its entire historical centre – one of the largest in Spain – is a maze of narrow streets with elegant palaces and churches, which converge irremissibly in the magnificent Plaza de Vázquez de Molina, one of the largest sanctuaries to European Renaissance. It was declared “World Heritage Site” by UNESCO in 2003 along with the neighbouring town of Baeza. |
